The Birthday Conspiracy pt 2

And so last night we went to celebrate starchild's birthday. The interesting thing about it was: we had external help developing a conspiracy of surprise. After arranging dinner at Pasta Cafe (which, incidentally, prides itself as being "an ideal place for a satisfying all-day dining experience" for people who really cannot stop eating) and subsequent coordinated cake delivery from Approved Cake Dealer, Seven had the idea of decorating said cake with LOTR figurines. Upon discovering that a set of 4 LOTR figurines cost a stately $149, we decided to lower our aims and she managed to procure some chocs from ChocolateArt at holland village (which, incidentally, seems to be the ppl who made the choc doorgifts for MAS D&D), and used her amazing design skills and some free time at work (what work?) to design a more intriguing Dining Experience.

Now the problem was that the plan required some cooperation on the part of the restaurant to kinda let us go in and alter the micro-decor of a table, and some tie-ups with a waitress (Serene) to pull the whole thing off. They could very anal-retentively just have said "no, sorry, we don't do that" but they were actually quite nice about it and let us come in and mess up the table a bit, and agreed to respond to a subtle sign to figure out who the b'day girl was to do this:

Although of course after about 15 seconds it became this

and afterwhich it kinda fused into a spectacular new form of fusion cuisine. oh well.

But the coolest bit was after dinner, when i looked at the waitress with a slightly raised eyebrow, and she smiled and nodded (shuddup yaox) and the cake came very soon after. Cool, no? Well okay the point is that i seldom see such helpful service people around. This is what tips and service charge should be for.
